MarcH 24 (KUNA) -- Kuwait expressed on Wednesday its concern about the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Somalia because of armed conflict "that is causing the escalation of crime and lack of security
situation that led to the disruption in the delivery of humanitarian assistance and increase the number of internally displaced persons." Abd al-Muhsin Al Rifai Diplomatic attach{ at the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs invited in a speech of Kuwait at the Human Rights council the High Commissioner for Human Rights "to intensify the efforts to reach a comprehensive agreement with the Somali government on the provision of technical support in the field of human rights and building institutional capacity at national and regional levels". Kuwait called the international community to support the plan by the Somali Government to improve the health and educational systems in the country, especially its activities in the camps for internally displaced persons, including limiting the admission of children of these to the armed groups fighting." At the same time the Kuwaiti diplomat confirmed that his country's full support for Somalia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, expressing support for all efforts to achieve national reconciliation in Somalia. Rifai explained the Kuwaiti efforts to provide assistance to the brotherly people of Somalia through grants and development loans, including the desire to improve the conditions of humanity and the provision of appropriate fundamental rights provided for in international instruments and international treaties. - Kuna
