KUWAIT CITY : The Ministry of Interior is striving to install eye imprint and fingerprint machines at the airport and at all border points, in order to prevent people with forged passports from entering the country
, as well as to control terrorism, reports Awan daily. Reliable sources said officials have been coordinating with GCC countries which are already using this system, such as the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which started using it since 2008. The project aims to control the entering of dubious characters, in addition to creating a database of people’s iris imprints which will help in preventing forgery in official documents, add sources. In another development, Saudi authorities temporarily banned Bedouns from performing Umrah and have stopped issuing visit visas since the last few days. Sources say some Bedouns, however, managed to get visas. - Arab Times
