KUWAIT, May 2 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's parliamentary legislative and legal committee has given the thumbs up to an overture purposed to create a fresh academic educational body in the country.
The announcement was made by MP Walid Al-Tabtabai, rapporteur of the parliamentary committee, following the committee meeting, saying that they had also agreed to give small house owners KD 20,000 in compensations. But, the committee put on the back burner a request by the Public Prosecution to scrap the parliamentary immunity of MPs Musallam Al-Barrak and Mohammad Hayef Al-Mutairi until they are summoned for expressing their views. It also passed another suggestion allowing professors of the Public Authority for applied education and training to practice law just as is the case with their university counterparts, he added. A third motion banning the publication of personal ads approaching for donations from public figures was also granted. Finally, the committee passed a proposal granting Kuwaiti wives, widows and divorcees of non-Kuwaiti husbands the right of housing care. - Kuna
