KUWAIT, May 12 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti state charity, Bait Al Zakat (House of Alms) is currently sponsoring 27,500 orphans in a number of Arab and Islamic nations until adulthood, the organization's Head of foreign activities
, Abdullah Al-Haidar, said Wednesday. Al-Haidar told KUNA that the 'support the orphan' project is one of the charity's foreign initiatives aimed at supporting orphans, providing them with a generous lifestyle which enables them to grow in an upright path away from corrupt behavior which could obstruct this. Bait Al Zakat also supports distinguished orphaned students through its 'student support fund', which provides them the opportunity to receive education in universities and colleges until graduation, with expenses fully covered by generous Kuwaiti donors, he added. All Kuwaiti charity organizations adopt Bait Al Zakat's method of supporting orphans, he noted. Kuwaiti charity organizations along with Bait Al Zakat have recently taken the decision to coordinate amongst one another in matters related to the support the orphan project outside of Kuwait. This has been demonstrated through a combined workplan aimed at uniting efforts on the project ensuring non-duplicated sponsorship and study of applicants, which aim to raise the project's efectivity and ensure its continuation, he added. Bait Al Zakat similarly looks to cooperate with local charities on the 'Iftar meals' and 'Eid Al-Adha meat giveaway' initiatives to ensure fair distribution. - Kuna
