KUWAIT, May 12 (KUNA) -- Chairman and Director General of KUNA Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij Al-Ibrahim Al-Sabah recalled on Wednesday that Kuwait will always remember late Father Amir Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah for devoting his entire life to serving his homeland and countrymen. Sheikh Mubarak said, on the second anniversary of the demise of Sheikh Saad which is on Thursday, that the Father Amir greatly contributed in the establishment and development of modern Kuwait. He did that as a member of a strong team with late Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, he added. He pointed out that Sheikh Saad is among Kuwait's major leaders who will never be forgotten because of his heroic stances, humanitarian activities, and great sacrifices. He said that Sheikh Saad assumed responsibility at a young age and made changes in every post he held, since he worked at the general security authority in 1954 until he became Amir in 2006. Sheikh Mubarak said that Sheikh Saad had a role in stressing democracy and took part in founding the Constituent Council and the drafting of the state's constitution. Sheikh Saad did his best to develop Kuwait and was able through his wisdom and courage to overcome many internal and external challenges that the state faced during his life, he noted. He had a strong will, especially during the Iraqi occupation of Kuwait, and was the hero of liberation and reconstruction, he added. Sheikh Saad visited dozens of countries and held talks with many world leaders and officials to ensure the liberation of Kuwait. After the liberation, he was among the first to return to his country to ensure decent life for its people and to support and inspire them during the hard time of reconstruction, and for that and much more, he would always be recalled with utmost regard by all Kuwaitis, present and future. - Kuna
