| Technical Body presents Failaka island project end of June - Roumi |

KUWAIT, May 16 (KUNA) -- Chief of the technical body to study development projects and initiatives for Failaka Island Adel Al-Roumi said on Sunday that the body will present the Failaka development project to foreign consultants by end of June. Al-Roumi told a press conference Sunday that the Minister of Works received all previous studies concerning this project, and the findings and recommendations would be fine-tuned. He clarified that the body will update the findings to conform with law 7/2008 on organizing Build, Operate, and Transfer (BOT) projects, and said the previous study for Failaka Island had put cost at over KD 500 million. Al-Roumi added that a public Kuwaiti shareholding company will be established for the project and that 50 percent of the shares would be held by the private sector with the other 50 percent offered in public prescription to Kuwaiti citizens, Deputy director General for Projects and Environment Sector at Kuwait Municipality Yousif Al-Minawir meanwhile said that sub-projects already with initial approval stand at 23 so far. Al-Minawir added that six projects are for the municipality, five for civil aviation, four for customs, three for the ministry of communication, one for the ministry of public works, two for the ministry of electricity and water, and two for Kuwait University, among others. - Kuna
