KUWAIT, May 17 (KUNA) -- The remains of the 55 Iraqi soldiers that were uncovered in Abdali have been handed over to the Iraqi authorities through the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)
and Kuwait's National Committee for the Affairs of POWs and Missing, with the knowledge of the Coalition Forces. In a statement to KUNA following the handover on Monday, Interior Ministry Spokesman Brigadier Mohammad Al-Saber said that the handover reflected the deep relations between the two countries and the continued coordination between them, noting that the uncovering of remains and their repatriation had a humanitarian dimension. He lauded the cooperation between the Kuwaiti and Iraqi sides during the handover, adding that the two sides exerted all efforts to facilitate the handover and to make sure that it flowed smoothly. He also commended the Kuwaiti experts team that took part in the excavation, noting that the ICRC said that the Kuwaiti experts were greatly experienced given the work they did following the liberation of Kuwait. - Kuna
