New police academy building to be complete in Nov. 2010 |

KUWAIT, May 21 (KUNA) -- The Ministry of Public Works is constructing a new building for the Police Academy, which is expected to be completed by November 2011 at an overall cost of KD 45.5 million.
The construction site falls within the Mubarakiya Military Camps in the G-1 area, and the building will stretch over an area of 304,284 square meters, with a capacity to hold 1,200 officers and 165 trainers and assistants. The architecture draws from traditional and Islamic forms, and takes into account the climate and traditions. It holds lecture rooms, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, a mosque, a water tower, a football field, running tracks, a training village, open areas of natural barriers, security towers, shooting ranges, a social services building, and a registration hall. Housing buildings for those enrolled in the academy will be of three floors each, and the buildings will share an open courtyard. A parade area surround the whole complex, equipped with an Amiri and VIP platform for graduation ceremonies. - Kuna
