Kuwaiti parliament postpones bills on women''s rights to June 22 |

KUWAIT, May 26 (KUNA) -- The Kuwaiti National Assembly (parliament) decided on Wednesday to postpone the debate on the draft legislation dealing with the civil and social rights of women to June 22.
The Assembly decided to turn over the reports of the parliamentary committee on women and family affairs, relating to draft bills on the housing welfare of women, to a joint ad hoc panel. The panel consisting of the parliamentary housing affairs committee and the committee on women and family affairs is scheduled to further debate the draft bills as a prelude to their endorsement by the Assembly. The Assembly also decided to refer to a joint panel, made up of the committee on women and family affairs and the financial committee, reports on the social insurance for women. The two ad hoc panels are demanded to produce their respective reports on the draft bills by June 17. The reports will be on the agenda of the parliament session of June 22. The bills, including amendments to Act No 47 for 1993 on housing welfare, were debated by the Assembly during today's session. - Kuna
