KUWAIT: Play therapy and the latest techniques used in sensory rooms were the topics of discussion at a lecture organized as part of the Al-Kharafi Activity Kids Center's
second annual exhibition held yesterday. It was entitled 'Working Together to Improve Your Selection.' More than 35 educational sectors that deal with special needs attended the lecture. Tim Taylor, a designer and manufacturer of sensory environment equipment in England was the key note speaker. He will also deliver lecture today on how sensory rooms and the latest in technology can be used for treatment. Aysha Al-Salem, Manager of Al-Kharafi Activity Kids Center said, "This center has been set up to prepare a good environment for the disabled children in Kuwait all year around, also for Kuwaitis and non-Kuwaitis, with all their disabilities. The center always tries to offer its best services to the disabled. After dealing with parents, we have learnt that they face the problem of lack of opportunities for disabled children. Few schools are suitable for their needs," Aysha added. Aysha also stated, "For that reason, we collected all the companies that offer services in this field. Information about all schools are available under one roof. This is in order to give parents the chance to meet these firms and private schools, and to choose where to place the disables children." "Also, there are more than 35 participants. I would like to express thanks to all participants and a special thanks to sponsors MAC for travel and tourism, Hazem and Brothers company," Aysha concluded. - Kuwait Times
