Kuwait supports UN humanitarian projects in Haiti |

GENEVA, June 5 (KUNA) -- Director of the UN Office for the Coordination for Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Geneva, Rashid Khalikov
, praised on Saturday the USD 100,000 donation offered by Kuwait for UN projects in Haiti, presented by Kuwait's Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva Dhirar Razzouqi. In remarks to KUNA, Khalikov hailed the Kuwaiti donation, saying that this reflected the Kuwaiti understanding of the importance of offering humanitarian aid and support for such a geographically distant country. Kuwait's keeness for alleviating the suffering of the victims of the earthquake in Haiti should be an example for other countries, he noted. On his part, Ambassador Razzouqi told KUNA that this donation came as part of Kuwait's efforts to aid stricken countries, stressing that Kuwaiti was a pioneer in supporting any humanitarian and development activities all over the world. The meeting was attended by the members of Kuwait's Mission at the UN in Geneva Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and Sheikha Jawaher Ibrahim Al-Sabah. - Kuna
