KUWAIT, June 14 (KUNA) -- Temperatures were only slightly out of the norm for the season recently, although the majority of people felt the increase was rather considerable, noted renowned Kuwaiti meteorologist Dr. Saleh Al-Ujairi.
Al-Ujairi told KUNA, Monday, the maximum temperature exceeded 50 degrees, and was only one or two degrees higher in desert areas in the northwest. He added the panic and commotion over high temperatures was probably due to people's reliance on cars' temperature reading, which is not an accurate reading. As for reasons behind temperatures hitting 50 degrees, he mentioned the long day, shorter nights, low humidity, and very bright sun due to clear sky and absence of dust particles in the air. The meteorologist urged all, and particularly those working in open areas, to cover their heads against harsh sunlight and to keep away from the sun as much as possible at noon. - Kuna
