KUWAIT, June 15 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Roudhan Al-Roudhan has described electricity consumption at peak time on Tuesday as "very alarming".
Speaking to reporters on the problem, the minister urged everybody in the country to live up to responsibility by saving electricity. However, he said it is not Kuwait alone which has an electricity shortage as all other Gulf countries and some world countries have the same problem. Therefore, all ministries and state agencies have been instructed to adjust consumption and to turn off lights at the end of work, he said. Asked about a suggestion to reduce working time in order to save electricity, the minister said the government had already pondered over the proposal, but found it inapplicable. Asked about the Ministry of Defense resorting to use power generators, the minister said: "It is just a tentative measure." - Kuna
