KUWAIT, June 20 (KUNA) -- Firefighting squads on Sunday managed to extinguish a fire that broke out in a basement of a building in Al-Farwaniya, but three Asians were injured in the incident.
Firefighters of Al-Farwaniya and Al-Ardhiya centers took part in the operation, with the fire controlled in a record time, Director of Public Relations Department at the Fire Service Directorate Lieut-Colonel Khalil Al-Ameer told KUNA. Failing to abide by preventive measures, especially the usage of a residence as a warehouse, is extremely hazardous, Al-Ameer pointed out. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire, Al-Ameer said, stressing at the same time necessity to keep a manual fire extinguisher placed vertically in a visible and accessible location. Fires usually increase during the summer season mainly due to high temperatures and to power loads reaching staggering levels.- Kuna
