Sheikh Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah awards accepts applications starting July |

KUWAIT, June 30 (KUNA) -- The Higher Committee of Sheikh Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah's Journalism Excellence Award said on Wednesday that applications are accepted from Thursday, July 1 untill September 30.
It is expected that the competition will be intense as many of its conditions were subjected to amendment; therefore the first place of the best report, investigation, interview and picture went up to KD 750, Head of the award's Higher committee Ayman Al-Ali said. The second place will be awarded KD 500 while third place prize was raised to 300, Al-Ali who is also serving as Syndicate of Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) Employees' Director said. A number of subsidiary committees were formed to achieve the award's goal in supporting journalists and developing their skills, he said, adding that journalists registered at Kuwait's Journalists Association (KJA) and KUNA can apply for the competition. The article presented should not be published by Kuwaiti media before January 2009 and it should not be tendered at any competition in or outside Kuwait, he said, adding that it should be at least 1,000 Arabic words tackling a Kuwaiti matter. The applicant should not be related to members of the committee while the material itself should not be tackling illegal issues, he said, adding that the conditions are listed in the application. He hailed Minster Premier and Defense Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak for the keenness and support displayed towards Kuwaiti journalists. - Kuna
