KUWAIT: A senior Kuwait Scientific Center (KSC) official yesterday emphasized the importance of raising children's awareness of all aspects of science through encouraging them to visit Kuwait's scientific centers.
In a press statement issued yesterday following a tour of the KSC by local children which organized by the Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS), the director of the KSC's Public Relations and Marketing department Nawaf Al-Rudaini said that it is extremely important that children recognize the significance of Kuwait's landmarks and tourism venues. Al-Rudaini stressed that the KSC is dedicated to spreading knowledge about and stimulating interest in science, and to strengthening Kuwaitis' commitment to preserving the country's wildlife and its marine environment. Among the center's objectives is educating visitors in scientific and environmental issues, providing children with the opportunity to learn about the environment and the vital importance of all living things. The KSC is keen to encourage all members of society to visit its facilities, especially during the summer holidays, he said, adding that the center offers discounts to groups from summer clubs and Cooperative Societies. The senior PR official praised the KRCS's efforts to spread scientific awareness through organizing trips to the center. He also revealed that the center is launching a promotion for its season tickets during July; the tickets will allow people to visit any of the KSC's facilities for free as often as they like for a whole year in exchange for a one-time membership fee payment. During yesterday's visit, the children toured the aquarium, where they were able to find out more about the marine environment, walking through tunnels surrounded by all sorts of marine life, from creatures found in Kuwait's coastal areas to those from the depths of the Arabian Peninsula. The kids' visit to the KSC was part of the KRCS' summer program for children, launched on June 27, which runs until July 22, with 39 children aged between eight and 10 participating in the daily events. -Kuwait Times
