KUWAIT: The Kuwait Ports Authority(KPA) will proceed with its plans to expand the Shuwaikh Port project. This comes as part of its future plans that have been formulated in coordination with the country's development plan and the government's work program.
The project, which costs KD 146 million, is expected to go underway within the upcoming months. It will focus on increasing the depth of the port's naval canal, with a three-year deadline to end operations. Currently, the canal is only 8.5 meters deep a nd only allows for ships with a maximum 7.5 meters in immersion to pass through. New developments aim to enable ships that have up to 14 meters in immersion and more than 420 meters width to pass, reported Al-Qabas. That will allow for large ships to pass, or even two small ships to pass at the same time. Housing allowance raise KUWAIT: The Ministry Of Education(MoE) will increase housing allowance for expatriate teachers. The Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Moudhi Al-Homoud said that the ministry has agreed to increase the amount set aside for housing allowance and added, "We have agreed to the increment and have approved it and referred it to Civil Service Commission(CSC) for approval in order to take necessary action," reported Al-Anba. She added, "We are excited at the increment's approval. New catering company KUWAIT: Kuwait's official gazette, Al-Kuwait Al-Youm, announced yesterday the establishment of a catering company, International Tabco Co., with a capital of one million Kuwaiti dinars. In its latest edition, the gazette said that the company was established as a closed, shareholding company, and that the one-million-dinar capital was in the form of 10 million cash shares at 100 fils per share. It said that the company's activities included catering for restaurants, hospitals, schools, universities, compan ies, factories, clubs, entertainment cities, guest houses, theaters, cinemas, and others. The company is also licensed to set up and manage its own fast food restaurants, and to purchase the required equipment, as well as bidding for contracts related to these activities. - Kuwait Times
