KUWAIT, July 12 (KUNA) -- Dry and hot atmosphere would return again to Kuwait starting from tomorrow following a period of a soaring relative humidity, meteorological and environmental expert at Kuwait's Meteorological Center Isa Ramadan said here Monday.
Ramadan said in a statement to KUNA today that relative humidity rates have greatly soared in the past few days on the west of Arabian Gulf in general due to the movement of the Indian monsoon depression, northern of the Arab peninsula, pushing winds to move from the northwestern direction that usually dominates the area this time, namely Al-Bawarih winds, to southeastern direction in what caused a remarkable rise in relative humidity. He added that the movement of Indian monsoon packed big amounts of water vapor to make up thick and unusual intensive clouds stretching over areas in the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, the Saudi Empty Quarter and southern of Saudi Arabia, though this was associated with rains that were heavy sometimes. Ramadan said that this is considered a strange phenomenon that signifies a clear abnormality on weather and climate and on the movement of air depressions and highs and concomitant air masses in the Middle East and the world at large. He went on to say that the aspects of this climate irregularities include abnormal high temperatures in some areas in Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Iran taking the form of heat waves and new record temperatures that were never registered before in the region, according to the meteorological reports. Further, Ramadan expected that the humiditiy would begin to retreat on the land areas as of this evening, then this would be followed by coastal areas at tomorrow's dawn in what makes the northwestern wind and Bawarih wind blow again moderately along with kicking up some dust over the land areas. Ramadan said that this would lead to higher temperatures that might go beyod 50 c in the coming two days, then a modicum of relative humidity would come back next Thursday, though it would soon lessen to give room to hot and arid weather at weekend. It is known that northwestern wind would continue during Bawarih period for some 40 days along with the arid atmosphere, sizzling Samoum wind and dust, though it is not expected for southeastern wind to exact an influence in this interval, he explained. He concluded by saying that period of Greater Barih wind would finish on the 16th of this month, namely following few days, then volatile winds and a hike in relative humidity would start with the beginnings of next August, noting that some days of coming Ramadan month might be humid and uncomfortable. - Kuna
