Kuwait Labor Min. backs regulating of labor market, employ graduates of religious colleges |

KUWAIT, Sept 22 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti Minister of Social Affairs and Labor highlighted on Wednesday the efforts of the Manpower and Government Restructuring Program (MGRP) to regulate the labor market.
"The program plays a central role in realizing the targets of the state policies related to the restructuring the labor market and increasing the ratio of local workforce," a statement issued by the ministry quoted Al-Afasi as saying during his meeting MGRP's Secretary-General Dr. Walid Al-Wuhaib here. The meeting focused on coordinating the efforts of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, the MGRP and the other state departments concerned with the labor market. The minister raised an initiative for making concerted efforts by the ministry and the departments to enforce the state laws and ministerial decrees including the new labor law in the short run, according to the statement. The meeting explored the possibility of creating new jobs for females in the private sector was well as ways to encourage the medium and small enterprises to absorb the graduates of the human development programs such as "gain of my hand," it revealed. Separately, Al-Afasi received chairman of and members of the interim committee on empowerment of graduates of religious colleges in the private sector. The committee, led by the higher consultative committee of the Amiri Diwan on the enforcement of the Sharia (Islamic Law), is made up of representatives of Kuwait University, the Ministry of Education and the private sector represented by the Sharia-abiding banks, and investment and insurance Companies. Chairman of the interim committee Dr. Mohammad Al-Qallaf briefed the minister on main obstacles facing the committee in finding jobs for the graduates of Islamic jurisprudence colleges. The graduates can practice the law profession since Kuwait Lawyers Association refuses to list them as its members, Al-Qallaf complained. The minister promised to make every possible effort to help the committee discharge its mandate. The meeting was also attended by deputy chairman of the committee Fares Al-Enezi, Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Sharia for admission affairs Fahad Al-Kandari and Director of Religious Education Division of the Ministry of Education Humoud Bin Thani. - Kuna
