KUWAIT, Oct 16 (KUNA) -- Minister of Commerce and Industry Ahmad Al-Haroun, addressing a conference on transformations of mass communication education
, said Saturday there was an interactive relationship between media on one side and mass communication on the other. Al-Haroun, representing His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Mohammad Al-Sabah to the four-day conference - organized by the Mass Communications Department at Kuwait University (KU) - said it was important to study transformations of education of mass communication namely sophisticated technology used by media. He called for training Arab cadres in mass communications. Dean of the Faculty of Art at KU Dr. Maimona Al-Sabah said the conference would be an added value for media in Kuwait in specific and the Arab countries in general. University education is the suitable mean to produce specialists and researchers who would help build civil society organizations and thus achieve a better future fo the country, she added. Head of Mass Communications Department Dr. Yusuf Al-Failakawi said conferees would discuss 60 work papers dealing with transformation of mass communications education in the Arab world. He said the conference would include workshops and lectures about journalism, writing and internet. Al-Failakawi undermined importance of creating new media structures in the Arab countries to improve the end-product. - Kuna
