KUWAIT, Oct 20 (KUNA) -- Wataniya Airways said on Wednesday that it has signed code share and interline agreements with Austrian Airlines
, Austria's national carrier. These agreements will provide Wataniya Airways' travel guests with numerous travel options, including 19 new European convenient connecting destinations via Vienna. Abdulsalam Al-Bahar, Wataniya Airways Chairman and Managing Director, said in a press conference that they "are absolutely delighted to make this important and strategic announcement." "Starting October 31st, guests will be able travel from Kuwait to Vienna International Airport and automatically transfer to onward Austrian Airways flights to European destinations using one single ticket," Al-Bahar said. "Our single-minded focus is to provide the very best services possible to our guests and we couldn't have found a better partner than Austrian Airlines. "Today is certainly another important and significant step forward for Wataniya Airways and for its loyal guests," the Chairman added. An additional major benefit to Wataniya Airways guests from the new partnership agreements is their baggage when checked in at Wataniya's exclusive Sheikh Saad Terminal in Kuwait will be automatically routed through to their final European airport arrival destination, allowing for a seamless travel experience for the guest. The agreements also allow Austrian Airlines guests to travel to Kuwait onboard Wataniya Airways. Al-Bahar noted that since they launched regular direct flights to Vienna in 2010, the service has become one of most popular routes to them. "Vienna is at the very heart of Europe and, with less than two hours transit time at Vienna International Airport to other European destinations, it is an ideal gateway for our valued guests," Al-Bahar added. Wataniya Airways is introducing its new code share agreement with attractive lead-in fares starting from Kuwaiti Dinar (K.D.) 99 for the round trip. For his part, Andreas Bierwirth, a member of the Executive Board of Austrian Airlines praised such partnership which he described will expand choices for their travelers from Europe to the Middle East.
