Private sector attracts more young Kuwaitis |

KUWAIT: Young Kuwaitis are now being lured into the private sector so that their presence can be bolstered in the local job market.
Many Kuwaiti companies participated in the Seventh Job Fair which was inaugurated on Sunday and closes today. Abdul Aziz Al-Zaben, the Civil Service Board (CSB) Chairman assured that the government has been aiming to provide more job vacancies in the private sector by rescheduling its labor program. This will be done with the help of a clear strategy, he explained. Majdi Al-Ghannam, HR Manager at Wataniya Telecommunication Company said that the Kuwaiti private sector aims to attract more citizens to satisfy growing demands. He added that this can be done through the private sector as several expansions are being undertaken. Al- Ghannam said that the participation of Wataniya Telecommunications is an indicator of the rapid growth of telecommunications sector in Kuwait that constantly needs labor. He said that the company will accept job applications during the exhibition, and will define its requests according to needs and the company's expansion in the local market. Al-Ghannam said that the expo is a place that facilitates dialogue between job seekers and owners. This way, he explained, the young (Kuwaiti) generation will have the chance to be aware of the job market's demands. Job owners are aware of the capabilities and ambitions of young Kuwaitis. This will help reduce the distance between the two. Therefore, it complies with the goal - to increase national labor in private sector institutions. Emad Al-Abalani , Deputy HR Manager at NBK said that the bank always supports young Kuwaitis' capacities - of both genders. The NBK believes that this is one of its responsibilities towards society. Al-Abalani mentioned that the reason behind NBK's participation is to attract young Kuwaiti employees whose levels of ambition is matched with those of the bank - considered to be the most important in the Middle East. He added that the private sector is becoming of an attractive prospective for young people after a period of lull. This is mostly owing to the uncertainty and lack of trust in this sector when compared to the public sector. He said that, of late, young Kuwaitis have had placed more faith trust in the private sector, especially after the success that young people have achieved. Khamis Al-Ajmi, CEO of the Vision Group, official organizer of the event said that the main aim behind organizing this event is to specialize in human resources and work toward creating awareness among young Kuwaitis. He said that this expo acted as a bridge between job seekers and owners. Al-Ajmi added that many workshops held on the sidelines of the event of the expo inclines it towards serving job seekers and owners, thereby, resolving unemployment. - Kuwait Times
