Kuwait has donated USD one million to the International Committee of the Red Cross in aid for its humanitarian missions
, Board Chairman of Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) Barjas Homoud Al-Barjas announced on Thursday. Al-Barjas, speaking after a meeting with a delegation of the ICRC, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was tasked with coordination with the Red Crescent to hand over the aid to help the international organization in its humanitarian missions. He praised humanitarian missions of the ICRC globally for aiding peoples in need, affirming keenness of the Kuwaiti government and people on aiding peoples at times of natural catastrophes and targedies throughout the world. Al-Barjas also hailed the humaniratian role of the political leadership, namely HH the Amir, in support of the brotherly and friendly nations. For his part, Gerard Peytrignet, the head of the regional mission of the ICRC in Kuwait, said the agency would allocate the Kuwaiti aid for relief operations in Libya, indicating that the international committee was aiding the injured and the displaced Libyans, namely those who have fled to the border regions. Peytrignet decorated Al-Barjas with a memorial shield in appreciation for the humanitarian role of the society. - Kuna
