KUWAIT, April 3 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Dr. Moudhi Al-Humoud highlighted Sunday the importance of enforcing the regulations that prevent schoolchildren from absence.
Speaking to reporters here after chairing the meeting of the council of the ministry's undersecretaries, Dr. Al-Humoud urged the leaders of the educational directorates to make more field visits aiming to check spread of this phenomenon. "The ministry is working with Kuwait University (KU) and the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET) to specify the vacations that precede, and can be merged with, the midterm holiday," she said. "A decision on the possible merger will be made in the light of recommendations of the KU and PAAET," the minister noted. Commenting on the controversy relating to the employment of the graduates of KU's Faculty of Education and PAAET's College of Basic Education at state-run schools, Dr. Al-Humoud suggested approving the requests of those who are willing to end their service within one year instead of two years. "A decision in this regard should be taken in conformity with the civil service regulations," she added. Dr. AL-Humoud asked Kuwait Teachers' Society to coordinate with her ministry in order to celebrate the teacher's day jointly and outline the guidelines for honoring the distinguished teachers annually. Today's meeting was attended by the ministry's undersecretary Tamadur AL-Siderawi and assistant undersecretaries.
