KUWAIT: There are nearly 10,000 residency violators among the Egyptian community in Kuwait, confirmed a senior official with the Egyptian embassy in Kuwait.
He urged all violators to make use of the Amiri amnesty by which they have the chance, until June 30, to either leave the country without paying fines or pay the fines and correct their residency statuses without facing any further legal complications. Consul Hamdi Shaban made his comments during a seminar hosted by the Egyptian Consulate in cooperatio n with the Ministry of Interior's Migration General Department to discuss the Amiri amnesty. Meanwhile, Major Musaed Al-Ajmi from the Central Division of the Migration Department indicated that more than 17 percent of a total number of 120,000 residency violators in Kuwait, registered prior to February 25, 2011, have so far benefited from the amnesty. Expatriates who leave the country according to the Amiri amnesty will have the chance to return to Kuwait again in the future as their names will not be blacklisted. - Kuwait Times
