Govt has no intention of privatizing Kuwait Radio: minister |

KUWAIT: Kuwait's Minister of Information, Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah, stressed yesterday that the ministry has no intention to of privatizing the state radio station Kuwait Radio
, which he called "a governmental monument and mouthpiece. At a ceremony hosted by the station to mark its sixtieth anniversary, Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah, who is also minister of oil, praised the role of Kuwait Radio's employees over the years, including the late announcer Mubarak Al-Mayyal, who was the very first voice heard on the national station, as well as other well-known presenters like Muhammad Al-Mo'amen. The minister lauded the radio station, saying that Kuwait Radio has kept up with the rapidly developing nature of contemporary media through constantly striving to maintain the highest standards in order to remain at the technological forefront. During the celebratory event, the minister also helped to formally launch Kuwait's newest radio station, 'Huna Al-Kuwait' (Here's Kuwait), with his voice being amongst the first to be heard on the new station, along with pioneering presenters, including Amal Abdullah and Majid Al-Shatti. - KUNA
