KUWAIT CITY, May 20: The Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) has suspended the renewal of civil IDs of GCC residents who spend long spells of time out of the country
after authorities learnt about misuse of the cards, reports Al-Shahed daily. Sources say many GCC citizens do not live in the country, but acquire the civil IDs to take advantage of the ration card and get foodstuffs at subsidized prices. According to sources, GCC citizens who wish to get their civil IDs renewed will have to now prove that they live in the country either by submitting documents of their transactions with the government or PACI would send an inspector to the applicant’s house to make sure that the person resides in Kuwait. Once it is proved that the GCC citizen is resident of the country, his transactions would be processed very smoothly, noted sources. - Arabtimes
