'Govt obliged to pay KD 50 raise' |

KUWAIT: The Deputy PM, Sheikh Ahmed Al-Fahad Al-Sabah tendered his resignation to the Cabinet , which was extended to HH the Amir.
Ali Al-Rashid, the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs said. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the launch of the world's second largest firefighting boat, 'Mejaweb' at Shuwaikh port. The ceremony was attended by the Capital governor Sheikh Ali Al-Jaber, Hawalli Governor, Abdullah Al-Fares, the Korean ambassador, Maj General Faisal Al-Senain ,Marine Border Director, and a number of firefighting and national guard commanders. Al-Rashid stressed that the government was obliged to pay the suggested KD 50 pay hike since the law was passed in 2008. Al-Rashid also congratulated fire men who obtained their degree from Bahrain and have now joined the firefighting staff. Furthermore, Al-Rashid congratulated Kuwait Fire Services Directorate (KSFD) on including the new boat in the fleet, "This boat is a welcome addition that makes us feel more secure in case of any oil tanker fires, Allah forbid," he added underlining that it was the state's duty to be fully prepared and ready to handle any emergency to help save lives and property. Notably, the Korean-made boat is 39-feet long and can travel at a speed of 12 knots with 2500 horse power engines. It is equipped with four powerful giant Norwegian-made water pumps capable of pumping 8,400 cubic meter. The boat is equipped with tanks capable of holding 252 tons of fuel and 29 tons of foam. The engines are monitored through the internet, it includes a field first aid room with four beds and the capacity to treat up to 14 people at a time. - Kuwait Times
