Fire department calls for shutting power before travel |

KUWAIT, June 22 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Fire Services Directorate calls on citizens to turn off electricity in their houses before they travel for the summer vacation.
A large number of fires takes place during the summer season, the deputy director of awareness and public relations in Kuwait Fire Services Directorate, Captain Ammar Al-Hbail, said The directorate is exerting all possible efforts to achieve safety and protection for all, he affirmed, calling on citizens to acquire fire detectors, extinguishers and training all family members and domestic workers on procedures of dealing with fires and rescue, beside taking care of children. He stressed on importance of checking the electricity, gas, fuel and organizing discard of waste, and keeping the trash away from any heat source, beside management of storage sites and observing heat sources, especially lighting and electrical wiring. Citizens travelling abroad should know the emergency number of the country they settle in, while choosing an accommodation that offers safety equipment like fire detectors, extinguishers, water hoses and emergency evacuation map. Houses and vehicles' fires increase during the summer season due to high air temperature and negligence. - Kuna
