KUWAIT, Aug 1 (KUNA) -- The Ministry of Interior (MoI) affirmed Monday it would not tolerate people who would deliberately eat in public and beg during the holy month of Ramadan.
Acting Director of Public Relations, Moral Guidance and Security Media, Colonel Adel Al-Hashash said any person who would deliberately eat or help people eat in public during fasting time would be fine with KD 100 maximum and a prison term not exceeding a month, or one of those penalties. Al-Hashash underlined that eating in public during the fasting hours throughout Ramadan was "unacceptable and cannot tolerated, it is out or norms for the Kuwaiti society." The MoI is also determined to confront beggars "which becomes a profession for some expatriates during Ramadan and other religious occasion," he said. He called on citizens and expatriates to report to the MoI about beggars through emergency number (112). - Kuna
