Public Health calls to lift ban on vegetables imports from Germany |

KUWAIT, Aug 1 (KUNA) -- The Public Health Department of Food Safety Commission of Ministry of Health addressed the Municipality of Kuwait with a recommendation to lift the ban
, imposed since last June, on the import of vegetables from Germany and Spain, following outbreak of the E. coli epidemic. Director of the Public Health Department Dr. Fatema Al-Saeedi said in a press release, on Monday, Robert Koch Institute in Germany and the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control announced end of spread of the E. coli in Germany and the European countries, in scientific terms, from July 4. However, there are still some few cases in Germany, Al-Saeedi said. Furthermore, she called on citizens and residents of Kuwait to clean vegetables and fruits well before consuming. - Kuna
