The Ministry of Interior Affairs will soon adopt new regulations to allow female expatriate teachers working at the Ministry of Education to bring their husbands to the country
, reliable sources told Al-Rai daily. Sources said the decision will allow teachers’ husbands to come to the country on work visas and if that is not possible, the husbands will be allowed to come and stay on dependent visas until they find work and acquire residence permits. Sources mentioned that the security committee formed by the Cabinet and headed by Assistant Undersecretary for Passports and Citizenship Affairs Major General Abdullah Al-Rashid and comprising of members from the Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Education continues to hold meetings. The committee is preparing the list of conditions that allow expatriate teachers to bring their husbands to the country. The list would be submitted to the Cabinet for approval. One of the conditions is that the husbands should prove useful to the society and not violate the labor law, said sources, adding “priority will be given to husbands who can come to the country on work visas.”
