The Civil Service Commission (CSC) affirmed Saturday that news regarding the commission's monitoring of Twitter and Facebook accounts of government employees were totally false.
Undersecretary at the CSC Mohammad Al-Roumi told KUNA "there were no reports or complaints from officials at the government sector in regards to the increasing use of social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook during work hours," adding that there was no official decree in regards to monitoring of such accounts. CSC has no authority over government employees in regards to such aspect and only the directors of government departments have such authority over their employees. The commission, said the official, was amongst the first government institutions to endorse the social networking phenomenon, utilizing it in ways that would help CSC improve its' services and mission. - Kuna
