KUWAIT: The Ministry of Interior, marking start of the new scholastic year, has set guidelines of safety for parents and students
.The Security Information Department of the MoI said in a statement yesterday that the guidelines remind the pupils to cross streets and roads across the special lane drawn for pedestrians. Young pupils should not sit on the front seat of cars, the department advised. The third message is: Board the bus in an orderly manner, and the fourth, "tighten the seat belt." The guidelines were set for the motorists and the passengers as part of a campaign of awareness on the scholastic occasion. Meanwhile, up to 137,042 elementary-level students are due to head to their schools today (Monday). Yosr Al-Amr, the director-general of Al-Farwaniah teaching district, said the authorities have taken all necessary preparations to accommodate the students. During a tour of the schools in Al-Farwaniah, where up to 5,862 elementary students showed up at schools yesterday, the director said she ensured that the pupils had all necessities, such as books, and that they proceeded to classes in an orderly manner. Turn-up reached 98 percent at the schools in this district, she said. Mona Al-Sallah, the chief educational director in Hawalli, said the number of students for this level reached today, 3,731. Those who showed up at Ahmadi schools numbered 7,009. --- KUNA
