Sept 18 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) said Sunday evening firefighters managed to subdue a deadly blaze that broke out at the basement of an apartment building in Khaitan
area which killed an expatriate. The fire claimed the life of the expatriate worker and injured four other people including a firefighter, said a KFSD press release. Upon receiving notification of the accident, fire engines rushed to the scene from the fire stations of Al-Farwaniya, Jleib El-Shoyoukh and Al-Shuwaikh. The doomed-basement was used as a carpenter workshop where several people were trapped by the fire. The firefighters fought a fierce battle to put out the fire and rescue the people trapped inside. The victims were rushed to a nearby hospital, the statement said, reminding the owners of workshops of abiding by the safety regulations in order to save lives and protect their own businesses. - Kuna
