KUWAIT: The Ministry of Public Works yesterday announced the conclusion of most of the construction work on a causeway and railway
which are part of the major Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project. Ninety-one percent of the work on the railway network and 94 percent of that on the vehicle causeway has already been completed, said Ghaleb Shalash, the director of the MPW's major projects monitoring division, following a surprise inspection of the site by Minister of Public Works Dr. Fadhil Safar. During his tour of the site, Dr. Safar, who is also the Minister of State for Municipal Affairs, inspected the construction area and viewed soil treatment procedures being carried out there, said Shalash, adding that the minister also inspected a makeshift bridge linking Boubyan Island with the harbor site. Dr. Safar also visited locations in the northeast of the island where designing and dredging work is underway, along with the construction of piers and the furnishing of management offices. The Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project is one of the major parts of Kuwaiti's massive national development strategy. - KUNA
