KUWAIT: MP Ali Al-Deqbasi has warned of possible rising unemployment amongst Kuwaitis if state bodies continue with their current recruitment policy.
The report issued by the National Bank of Kuwait [NBK] several days ago stated that 'Kuwaiti recruitment is witnessing the slowest growth rate since 2006, falling from 16 percent a year ago to 7 percent at the end of the first quarter of this year,'" the MP pointed out, accusing the government of favoring expatriate workers over Kuwaitis. Al-Deqbasi asserted that the government is failing to practice the 'Kuwaitization policy' of replacing non-Kuwaitis in skilled positions with Kuwaitis, which he said is essential, especially since the Civil Service Commission (CSC) has introduced training programs to equip Kuwaiti candidates for these positions with the necessary skills. - Kuwait times
