Ban on Japanese products still in effect -- Kuwait Municipality |

Chairman of the Committee on Food Safety in the Kuwait Municipality Mohammad Al-Otaibi said on Tuesday that the ban imposed on Japanese products is still in effect.
Al-Otaibi said in a press statement that the Committee recommended lifting of the import of fresh, processed and frozen vegetables and their derivatives from the Republic of Germany. And on the report of the technical team formed by the Ministry of Health and the membership of the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) and the Environment Public Authority (EPA) Al-Otaibi said the request of the Ministry of Health in this regard was discussed, saying that it has been emphasized with the team leader, Dr. Tariq al-Duwaisan on need to coordinate with those agencies to determine the rate of bromate in drinking water. He said the committee also reviewed report of the European Union concerning lifting of the ban on the importation of vegetables contaminated with the E. Coli and the procedures followed in this regard, adding that the ban was lifted of both Spain and Germany.
