The 62nd Independence Day of India was celebrated in Kuwait on August 15, 2009 by unfurling of the National Flag by the Ambassador of India, His Excellency Mr. Ajai Malhotra which was followed by singing of the National Anthem.
The Ambassador later addressed the audience and read out the message of the Hon’ble President of India. Patriotic songs were sung by school children and members of the Indian Community, while the Indian Bohra Community brass band provided a musical interlude. 2. The flag hoisting ceremony was followed by an Open House Reception offering hot Indian snacks, tea and soft drinks to all present at the celebration. 3. The function was attended by over 4000 Indian nationals from all walks of life, including a cross section of various communities and workers in Kuwait, members of Indian Embassy with their families, employees of Public Sector Undertakings besides prominent members of the Indian community in Kuwait.
