Islamist opposition former MP Waleed Al-Tabtabaei urged sponsors to treat their domestic workers well
. This is in light of incidents of abuse by domestic workers towards the children of civilian sponsors and abuse by sponsors towards their domestic help.
Al-Tabtabaei on his Twitter account on Friday said that domestic workers will love their sponsors if they are treated well and urged employers to: (1-) pay their full salary on time (2-) not force them to do difficult work, such as wash cars in the cold (3-) give them two hours rest in the day-time (4-) not be short with food (5-) give them the right to travel every two years for two months and with full pay (6-) increase their salary by not less than 10 percent yearly (7-) give them monthly KD 5 phone cards.
