Around 25 people were killed, and 100 others were missing in a landslide that hit a remote gold mining area southern Philippines.
Initial reports indicate that around 100 people are missing due to the landslides resulting from heavy rain that waterlogged the soil for several days in Compostela Valley, 930 kilometers south Manila, local media quoted regional spokesman for the Armed Forces Colonel Leopoldo Galon on Thursday. Rescue teams are working hard in search of survivors. A total of 652 were confirmed dead, while 800 others are still missing, a result of the aftermath of the tropical Washi typhoon that hit southern Philippines last December.
