Work permits ban to continue |

Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor will not lift the ban on work permits in the current month as previously declared, reports Alam Al-Youm daily
. In a joint statement by the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Dr Mohammed Al-Afasi, Undersecretary of Labor Mohammed Al-Kandari and his deputy Jamal Al-Dousari, the ministry will not defer on its decision and suspension of work permits will continue since the Council of Ministers has declined response to the work permit’s file to pave the way for repealing of the decision.
Earlier, the Council of Ministers had issued the decision suspending issuance of work permits, while the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor last Nov lifted the ban on some EU countries, as well as the Americas, Canada and Japan. It is noteworthy the ban on work permits has affected employers in Kuwait who depend on the foreign manpower, the daily indicated.
