Drinking water is clean and free from any environmental pollutants, said Minister of Electricity and Water Dr. Bader Al-Shuraiaan on Friday.
Speaking to KUNA, he called on media to be accurate when reporting stories, reiterating the fact that drinking water was clean and clear, counter to what had been reported by the media. He also refuted claims sent out by SMS that Shuaiba water desalination plant was polluted and had been closed down. The minister explained that the ministry was testing random water samples every 15 minutes to make sure that there were no pollutants present. Again, Al-Shuraiaan called on the media exercise caution when reporting such news, because national security and the people's confidence in the state's services could be affected. Moreover, he said the ministry monitored the seepage of water year-round through its labs at power stations and drinking water centers, and especially at this time after the malfunction of the sewage pumping station in Mishref.
