Head of Kuwait Municipality, Ahmad Al-Subaih, recently met with representatives from the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and representatives
from the committee that removes encroachments on state property in order to discuss demands presented by the ministry to allocate areas of land to build mosques to compensate for mosques that were demolished after they were built on state property. General Coordinator of the committee, Saud Al-Khatrash, said that the meeting was held to speed up the procedures of issuing licenses for mosques around residential areas. Proposals to construct 18 mosques in the place of previously removed mosques were presented. The owners of these mosques offered to pay all the expenses for the construction of their mosques, Al-Qabas reported. Furthermore, Al-Khatrash added that the committee presented a proposal to rebuild mosques which were demolished in new residential areas that still do not have mosques. These mosques will be built from easy-to-dismantle material in order to make it easier for the ministry to dismantle them whenever they decide to build mosques in their places, they said.
