Official sources recently revealed that the Cabinet is expected to take decisive action in regard to the issue of the educational process in light of the swine flu infection threat
during their weekly meeting. The sources also reported that officials from the Ministries of Education and Health have adopted a system for the start of the school year that will be implemented on a gradual basis. The start for the secondary stage will follow the Eid Al-Fitr holidays, followed by the intermediate stages a week later, and the elementary stage two weeks after the holidays. This new approach was planned jointly by the Ministries of Health and Education and is expected to be approved by the Cabinet if there are no objections. Meanwhile, Al-Qabas reported that the percentage of attendance for members of teaching staffs at all six educational directorates reached 85 percent. While most schools are equipped with the necessary precautionary measures to counter the virus, many school directors expressed their concern regarding these preparations in light of the absence of medical clinics and quarantine rooms for infected students. They called on the ministry to resolve these issues quickly before the start of the school year.
