The Ministry of Interior's Criminal Investigation Department is reportedly planning to clamp down on unlicensed celebrations in public and private venues during the Eid Al-Fitr holiday.
Abdulhamid Al-Awadhi, the head of the CID, has apparently put together a plan under which teams of investigators will work closely with other ministry personnel to check the licenses for such events in order to detect any potential violations of Kuwaiti culture or tradition. Any event discovered to be violating these will be immediately cancelled. A MoI official said that the investigators had been successful in monitoring the events held in Ramadan tents in the country's hotels, malls and resorts during the holy month, ensuring that all such events complied with the country's culture and traditions. The official further revealed that the investigators had also arrested a large number of beggars who had entered the country on visit visas solely in order to solicit money during the holy month of Ramadan, reported Al-Qabas. The investigators have submitted an official report on this phenomenon to the relevant authorities, the official added.
