A Kuwaiti airplane was forced to fly back to the country’s airport on Monday after a row between a crew member and a passenger claiming his bag contained a bomb , the state news agency KUNA said. The passenger refused to place his hand luggage in the overhead compartment as requested by the crew member 40 minutes after take-off on the Damascus-bound flight, according to KUNA. The pilot was forced to fly the Wataniya Airways plane back to Kuwait City, where interior ministry officials carried out a search but found no explosive materials, KUNA reported. The passenger was taken in for questioning and the plane took off again for the Syrian capital. The bomb scare claim was made by a passenger who had quarreled with a flight attendant on board the Kuwait-based airline, said Chief of Operations at Kuwait International Airport Issam Al-Zamel. The captain shortly after opted to immediately return to Kuwait where all passengers were evacuated and an inspection of the plane and the bag’s contents was carried out by the Ministry of Interior. Sources said the bag contained money.
