South Korea is aiming to become the number one destination for foreign travelling patients, especially from the Arabian Gulf, providing a number of lucrative incentives.
Speaking to KUNA on the occasion of a visit by a Kuwaiti delegation on Friday, aimed at getting familiar with South Korea's medical facilities and capabilities, Head of Foreign Relations at the country's Samsung Medical Centre Han Sen said that several visitors from the US and Russia come to the centre to receive treatment due to South Korea's advanced medical services and its competitive prices when compared to the West. The centre specializes in treating a number of ailments, particularly cancer, and uses hi-tech equipment under the supervision of exceptionally experienced doctors. The centre is one of the best in Asia, and was built in cooperation with the Mayo Clinic for medical diagnosis and analysis in Minnesota, USA, she added. She also expressed delight over the visit of the Kuwaiti delegation including staff from the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Defence, assuring Kuwaiti patients seeking treatment in South Korea of high-grade services and reasonable costs. Medical authorities in the nation have alleviated all past obstacles that stood in the path of medical tourism, and the numbers of incoming patients from abroad is significantly on the rise, she indicated. Samsung Medical Centre located in the South Korean capital, Seoul, is equipped with some of the most-up-to-date equipment in the world, and provides top-notch hotel catering services to patients and their families. It contains 1,300 beds, of which 800 have been assigned to cancer patients, with 600 specialized doctors and 1,000 nurses on standby.
