Kuwait has won two international prizes; one in electronic sciences and the other in electronic entertainment.
Kuwait was crowned in a recent UN ceremony held in Monterrey City in Mexico, with the participation of 168 countries from different continents. The Kuwaiti winners of the international awards were honored by the Global Alliance for Information and Communication Technologies. The winning technological projects were carried out by a number of brilliant Kuwaiti youth. Sophisticated technological tools were used in the implementation of the Kuwaiti projects in a way that matches the local needs of the Kuwaiti society. The projects were handpicked to represent Kuwait in the international competition following their win of the Electronic Kuwait Award, sponsored by the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS). The winners were honored by His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah in Kuwait in June, thus reflecting interest in, and appreciation for, science and technology at the level of institutions and individuals. Launched in 2003, the world information prize is awarded every two years; involving eight categories; e-government, e-health, e-learning, e-science, e-entertainment, e-heritage, e-commerce and e-containment.
