His Highness Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah Informatics Award for 09-2010 will kick off by holding a news conference at Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)
headquarters on October 5 at 11:00 am, the award's board said Saturday. The award is held under the sponsorship of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. During the news conference, a background on the award and participation mechanism, as well as the volunteering system of the award will be presented, the award's director Dr. Khalil Abul said. The award is mainly meant to build an integrated and developed informatics society in Kuwait. Abul called on all media outlets to attend the news conference in a bid to promote informatics culture and digitized means. Launched in 2001, the award aims to develop human capabilities and intensify the role of societal institutions in the informatics field. The award is based on specific criteria, chiefly scientific objectivity and accuracy, in order to ensure justice. As many as 134 arbiters from several Kuwaiti scientific agencies joined the contest last year. The prize is divided into three categories; informatics, development projects and digital information.
